Technical.ly CEO Interviews Victor Hwang: Will the Startup Revival Last?

In the face of a decades-long decline in entrepreneurship (the 2010s were one of the least active periods in US history), new business formation surged during the pandemic. In fact, nearly 5.4 million applications were filed to form new businesses — the most of any year on record, according to the Census Bureau.

“There’s a lot more you can do at home now and in places that were harder to do it before,” Victor said in an article and video interview from Technical.ly, a leading technology news organization. “But the system itself hasn’t shifted," he observed, citing an outdated ordinance in Washington, DC, where it is illegalto use more than 25% of your home’s square footage for work.
